Prevention of toxoplasmosis
Pregnant women with toxoplasmosis serology-negative are not immunized (ie unprotected) against toxoplasmosis. This affects about one in two women. To avoid a primary maternal infection with toxoplasmosis, women must follow specific dietary guidelines:-eat well-cooked meat-eat fruits and vegetables that have been thoroughly washed-Wash hands with soap after handling raw food or soil-avoid contact with cats, their litter and droppings.- In patients at risk, monthly serology testing enables them to discover a primary infection, which may occur despite following lifestyle advice. You must then begin a preventive antibiotic treatment to prevent congenital toxoplasmosis and thus protect the fetus.
