Under what circumstances can we consider an IMG (Medical termination of pregnancy)?

In France, the IMG is allowed under the law 94-654 of July 29, 1994, that is to say, whatever the term of pregnancy in cases of high probability that the unborn child is suffering from a particularly serious disease recognized as incurable at diagnosis. This finding must be certified by two doctors of whom at least one is a registered CPDPN (Multidisciplinary Center for Prenatal Diagnosis) and after ultrasound confirmation. Finally, the request of an IMG must come from the couple and not the physicians.

The main diseases leading to an IMG are:

-chromosomal abnormalities

-transmission of genetic diseases with poor prognosis

-congenital malformation of organs

-severe early stunting intrauterine

-Fetal infections with poor prognosis

-maternal diseases such as severe organ failure or cancer.
