Genital bleeding
Genital bleeding is one of the most common causes of gynecological consultation. The causes can be distinguished by the age of the patient (during puberty, menstruation or menopause). However, pregnancy should never be ruled out, including an ectopic pregnancy. But normal periods may also cause genital bleeding, their usual characteristics (duration, abundance, regularity, LMP ...) are always asked about, as well as methods of contraception, in addition to history, surgical, gynecological and obstetric .Here is a list of causes to raise according to the age of the patients, but which are developed in other chapters on this site:-Causes of pregnancy: ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, normal pregnancy and causes for bleeding in pregnancy-Organic causes: vulvo vaginal wound, intra vaginal foreign body, cervical cancer, fibroids, endometrial cancer, ovarian tumor-Infectious causes infectious salpingitis, vulvitis, vulvovaginitis, cervicitis, endometritis-Functional causes: hormonal imbalance, luteal insufficiency, hyperplasia or atrophy of the endometrium-Iatrogenic causes: contraceptive pill estrogen plus progestin, by IUD, hormone replacement therapy, blood thinners.-General causes: among other, abnormalities of haemostasisEach case is unique and must be seen in consultation, especially if the bleeding is heavy, and lasts a long time with an impact on general health.
