You should see a doctor quickly because there may be a risk of acute complications (adnexal torsion, for example).

The causes may be:

- an early pregnancy (intra-or extra-uterine)

- tubal infection (pelvic inflammatory disease, and even hydro-pyosalpinx)

- a benign tumor (adenomyosis, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts)

- malignancy (endometrial, ovarian, gastrointestinal, urinary)

-urinary retention

To find the cause, we will perform a physical examination and a pelvic ultrasound Doppler. If necessary, we will complete this with blood tests (hormonal, bacterial serology, tumor markers), MRI or CT abdominopelvic or laparoscopy or exploratory endoscopies.

If the cause is not serious, it can sometimes go without treatment. Otherwise, you will need a medical treatment (analgesics with oral contraceptive pill). Tubal infection will need surgical treatment and antibiotics. According to the affected organ, cancer is treated by surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy. In case of non-gynecological causes, you will be directed to another specialist for specific treatment.
