I have tried everything, including several IVFs, but I haven't managed to get pregnant. What can I do?
Whatever the techniques used, MAP(Medically Assisted Procreation) remains unsuccessful in 30% of couples. In MAP approved Centers insemination with husband's sperm or donor (or IAC IAD) can be up to 6 cycles. If unsuccessful at this stage, we move to IVF (In Vitro Fertilization), sometimes by completing an ICSI (intracytoplasmic injection of sperm). After the fourth failure of IVF, there are no other attempts since the chances of pregnancy are now too low (only 15%). If the desire for children persists, other options are possible: - change MAP center : this means that the couple can ask for another opinion from a different team if they wish. The decision to stop the MAPs is often a difficult one and depends on the woman's age (less success after 38 years old) and its response to hormonal stimulation. - adoption : the Regional Social Services department. handles the request for adoption of a child and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs adoption abroad. Finally, note that if there no cause of permanent infertility, there is still some chance of pregnancy occurring.
