I have hot flushes but I am afraid to take hormones. What should I do?

If hot flushes are disabling, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can safely be started, and at the lowest dose and for a short time, supervised by supervisory consultations. These precautions will reduce the risk of cancer associated with HRT.

If symptoms related to menopause are just annoying, alternatives exist:

-Local estrogens : they limit vaginal dryness and atrophy

-Abufène

-phytoestrogens (isoflavones): they have the disadvantage of being contraindicated in patients with a history of hormone-dependent cancer;

-natural treatments: ginseng, sage, and sedative plants like passion flower, valerian and hawthorn.

In all cases, during this period, it is recommended to maintain regular exercise, a balanced diet, limit alcohol abuse and remove possible smoking.
